Following Wednesday's win at home to Halifax Irish, manager Andy Mc Gowan was again forced to make changes to the starting line up. Out went Mick Garnett, Ollie Metcalfe and Phil Brogan replaced by Speighty, Chris Hanney and Kyle Mulley on his full debut. Wibsey started well and created the early chances and went deservedly went ahead when the keepers half clearance fell to John Penn who volleyed home from a difficult angle for hios first goal of the season. Despite continuing to play the better football Kirburton equalised against the run of play. Mulley was penalised for an nothing challenge which for some reason earned him a booking and from the resultant free kick a Kirkburton player scored with an unchallenged header from 8 yards out. Wibsey continued to knock the ball around with confidence and went back in front when Woody rolled the ball home from the edge of the box.
After the interval Kirkburton came back into the game and their front 3 started to cause us all sorts of problems. Their movement was a constant problem for the Wibsey back 4 and they equalised folowing a cross from the right and again the ball was forced home from close range with no defenders in sight. The game went from end to end but Wibsey went back in front through Penns second, this time from the penalty spot. Still Wibseys defence looked vulnerable and Kirkburton equalised also from the spot when Speighty upended Kirkburtons excellent left winger.
The winner came 10 minutes from time when Kyle Mulley score on his debut. A corner from the left caused all sorts of problems in the box and Mulley forced the ball home from close range and Wibsey hung on to pick up their first away win of the season.
In summary an execllent away win in which we looked great going forward but very suspect at the back.
