Ldy Luck certainly wasn't smiling on the lads in this game. A combination of bad luck & poor finishing meant that we dropped 2 points which would have seen us go top of the league.
After a slow start Wibsey took a grip of the game & missed a few good chances until a defence splitting pass put Kyle Mulley in on goal. He kept his head & slotted it past the keeper, the ball looked like it might get stuck in the mud but Damian Melvin following up eased the ball over the line. We dominated the rest of the half but didnt take the chances that would have eased the pressure.
We started the 2nd half much the same as the first & were probably guilty of taking our foot off the gas. Ardsley Celtic had not tested Paul Brown on his debut despite having a good share of the ball in midfield. The Celts did break down our left but Carl Horseman looked in control, however he tried to slide in & retain the ball instead of just putting it into touch. The rest of the defence didnt react but the croos into the box was pinpoint & they might have struggled defending it anyway. Browny had no chance with the downward header. 1-1.
We panicked a bit after that but eventually got back in our stride. The pressure was mounting & we were creating chance after chance, none of them were taken though as we lost our composure in fronnt of goal.
1-1 at full time. 2 points definitely dropped. |
